Getting ready for your CD release.

Here at AMS we help many bands release their CD. Getting your disc ready for a timely release is many times a very challenging project, here are some tips on how to make it run smoother and always be ready on time.

First you have to realize that Murphy’s Law is always in effect when you are getting thing ready, especially when up against a deadline. The most common mistake is to wait to the last minute to get your CD going. The two most common problems that I see most bands run into is are these.

TIME- Most CD projects are turned in two weeks if replication or quantities higher than a thousand and can be turned a little faster when duplication and run in smaller quantities. This does not mean you start your project when you have a date set for your release two weeks out. Give yourself a month at least. A CD release is not much of a release without your disc there.    ARTWORK- Plan the whole process. You need to consider your quantity, your artwork, you’re mastering, all before hand. I have many times seen a job bumped back for time because they found spelling mistakes or forgot song titles during the final proofing. When you push this right down to the wire a day of delay can make a lot of difference. Work closely with your graphic artist and make sure you check it and double-check it before you submit it. If you give yourself a few extra days you can also make changes last minute without scaring the whole band that it will not be ready on time.

When in doubt always feel free to contact us for help and advice. Plan out your release date after you talk to your manufacture, that way the stress is off of you and onto us to make sure that you are ready in time, and all you have to worry about it playing a good show. We also offer design services and Red Book CD mastering. We want to take the headache off of you and be there for you every step along the way, that’s what we do, after all you have enough to worry about.
